Bittersweet Bed Rest

LIFE can be harsh in the mountains. Like when there is a desire to ski that can’t be fulfilled because of a broken bone. I can almost see the eyes of the woman. Partly yearning partly bored. But that is not the reason why this is a great photo. It’s the composition. For instance, the combination of the white cast with the snowy mountain peaks. Or the curves of her body and the green hills. The photo is called Après Ski and is made by Ed van der Elsken, one of Netherlands most famous photographers. He took this picture in 1967 in Switzerland.
